**AS A MATTER OF FACT... Lisa has started organizing and creating her own retreats called NOVEL ESCAPES! Stay turned or check out her website for her upcoming FABULOUS retreats.
WE ALL THREE MADE IT TO THIS ONE AS FINALISTS!
We had so so much fun! So great to connect again. Lisa won Honorable Mention, Jana won 2nd Place, and Lyssa WON 1ST PLACE! It's always better when you have friends with you on these fun events!
Lyssa and Lisa managed to attend this fun conference and supported our good friend (we wanted her to be one of the Virgin Authors) Darcy McGuire! She was picked up by an agent and has a huge book dea. PNWA snagged her to be a speaker... Jana wasn't able to attend this but she sent a TON of virtual support and mental hugs.
ANOTHER thing Jana missed out on. Lyssa and Lisa made it to the @sonomacountywriterscamp and had a blast! Lots of smiles, laughter and LEARNING!
Lisa was the only one of the three of us who managed to attend this fabulous weekend. SHE HAD AN AMAZING TIME!
The timing was perfect for Jana to pop over to Los Angeles to help our beautiful, kind friend, AMY FERRIS, celebrate the launching of her latest book, MIGHTY GORGEOUS.
Unfortunately, Jana wasn't able to attend but Lyssa and Mandi attended the PNWA Conference together on September 21-24th
It was another great conference put on by PNWA!

JJ ELLIOTT is an advertising copywriter with a degree in English from UCLA. She lost her mother to suicide as a teenager, and spent over two years volunteering on the suicide hotlines in LA. One of the reasons she wanted to write this book is because she finds herself increasingly frustrated by the way suicide is treated in print and on-screen, as a mystery to be solved rather than a multi-layered, complex mental health situation that can rarely be boiled down to one specific "reason."
A native of Northern California, JJ now lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, two teenage kids, and two poorly trained bulldogs. She loves to read, drink wine, play tennis, and eat cheese. There Are No Rules For This is her first novel.
We are so fortunate to have Brooke Warner, publisher of She Writes Press & SparkPress, and author of Write On, Sisters!, & Green-light Your Book. She shared in depth secrets on how to Green-light Your Manuscript.
Brooke started her publishing career in 2000, and worked for traditional publishers for thirteen years. In 2012, she became the co-founder of She Writes Press with Kamy Wicoff, founder of SheWrites.com. You can follow her story of why she left traditional publishing in my TEDx talk: “Green-Light Revolution.”
Brook is a powerhouse and offers writing coaching to writers and authors, which involves:
• accountability
• refinement of ideas and positioning of work
• developmental editing and shaping of scenes and manuscript
and so much more!
Julie Barton is the author of the wonderful New York Times bestselling memoir: Dog Medicine–How My Dog Save Me From Myself. She has a B.A. from Kenyon College, an M.F.A. in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts, and an M.A. in Women’s Studies from Southern Connecticut State.
Julie is widely published; her credits include Brain Child Magazine, Louisiana Literature, Two Hawks Quarterly, and The Huffington Post, among others. She’s also been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Meghan Riordan Jarvis, is a clinical psychotherapist, author, podcast host, TEDx speaker, and sought-after consultant with over twenty years of experience in the fields of trauma, grief, and loss. Meghan’s forthcoming memoir follows her experience of deteriorating mental health after her father's and mother's deaths in short succession, eventually receiving the same therapeutic support she offers her clients. The End of the Hour is a touching story of how unresolved trauma can threaten the security of all that is held dear. Meghan is part of the Virgin Authors' exciting collaboration with Zibby Books. Watch it here or on the Virgin Authors' Facebook Live.
All three Virgin Authors totally love Amy Ferris. We initially met her through Story Summit and then we were lucky enough to meet her in person at the 2022 Kauai Writer's Conference and found how loving and kind she is in real life. Despite Emma Grey's vast experience as a feature writer, photographer, professional speaker and accountability coach, she wrote her first adult novel, The Last Love Note, in the wake of her husband’s death. It’s a fictional tribute to their love, an attempt to articulate the magnitude of her loss and a life-affirming commitment to hope. Emma is part of the Virgin Authors' exciting collaboration with Zibby Books.
